Stone Pigman's Oil & Gas Section contains lawyers whose practices have different areas of focus, enabling the firm to represent its clients in a comprehensive range of oil and gas matters, as well as related natural resources and environmental matters, whether in litigation, transactions, or regulatory practice. These lawyers work together in a collaborative fashion, drawing upon their different expertise and experience to best serve a specific client in particular circumstances.

Members of the Oil & Gas Section maintain their expertise not only by practicing law in this field, but by also teaching mineral law and environmental law courses at both local law schools, by frequently making presentations on these subjects to other practicing lawyers at continuing legal education seminars, and by regularly writing and publishing articles on these subjects in law journals and periodicals.

The firm's litigation practice includes representing clients in both federal and state courts throughout Louisiana, as well as other states, and in both arbitrations and mediations. Stone Pigman's transactional practice often includes representing large clients in the negotiation of complex oil and gas transactions, sometimes including multi-state transactions, but the firm's practice also includes advising individual landowners in leasing, right-of-way, and land use matters. The firm's regulatory practice involves dealing with the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources, Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality, and multiple regions of the United States Environmental Protection Agency, as well as other agencies.
